Meet the Pastor
Thanks for checking out the Walkersville Community Church website!  Since July 1997, I’ve had the pleasure of being the pastor to the people of Walkersville Community Church.  Prior to that, I served as an associate pastor of a church in Frederick for almost seven years.
What is unusual about my journey is that I grew up in Walkersville and graduated from Walkersville High School in 1984.  My wife, Beth, has a similar journey, and graduated from WHS.  This was helpful, so that, when I came to the church, I didn’t have to learn the dynamics of a new community.  Beth and I have four grown children- Stephen, Jason, Chloe, and Karis.  Stephen and his wife, Liz, live in Forest, VA and are parents to our grandson, S.J. (Stephen, Jr.).  Jason and his wife,  Megan, live in Lynchburg, VA.  Our daughter, Chloe, lives in San Diego, CA.  Our daughter Karis is in her final year at Liberty University and will graduate in May of 2019.
In addition to my work at the church, I am also a Character Coach with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where I lead a game-day Chapel for the Varsity Football team.  I also teach an online course in Biblical Interpretation for the Directed Study Program of the Brethren in Christ Church.  I love teaching anything related to the Bible and received my D. Min. degree from Evangel Theological Seminary (Harrisonburg, VA) in 2013 and Ph.D. from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary (Evansville, IN) in 2018.    I love to read broadly, play guitar, exercise, root for Washington Teams (Redskins, Nationals, and Capitals) and spend quality time with family and friends.    Enough about me, I’d like to meet you!  Please be sure to introduce yourself when you come to the church for the first time!
Sincerely in Christ,
